He shouldn't be worried about it. He's 13, and his body is still growing. He may have a growth spurt and grow right out of those 10 pounds.

10 pounds is very easy to lose, the plan is not to gain it back, if the 13 y. old want to get in a better shape, he must be careful of what he eats, do some outdoor activities and exercices. Should be very easy to get trim fast but you shouldn't lose more than 10-15% of your total weight (if you weight 150lbs, it should not exceed 15-23 lbs/year).

he needs to eat healthy only and he also needs to be very active...i would say about half a year or maybe a year...it all depends how strict the boy is on his diet and stuff like that....
