Does your son see his child ? Surly the two of you could demand a visit. You could go to court, gets expensive and may do more harm then good. She is hurting the child, if you had a close relationship. Does your Son pay her child support ?? If not that is a good reason for her anger. You are not obligated to pay her anything, with you, it is a choice of, if you want to.
I feel sad for your situation but I would pray and put this burden you have in God's hands and leave it there. Silence is golden. Just be kind and the least said the better.
I had a similar situation for about 6 months. I said something that offended my Venezuelan daughter-in-law and she told my son that I wasn't welcome in her house. I didn't have a clue why.
Anyway because of Christmas and we have big family get togethers, she wanted everyone together and she was very pleasant to me and I to her. Our relationship will never be the same as it once was. She and my son have 3 precious children.
I thank God for Christmas so now we can start 2007 better.
I pray things will improve for you and you have a wonderful New Year.. I followed the advice I gave you, Turned it over.
Good Luck~~~
I am 76 years young

There is sucha thing as Grandparents rights.Look into itLegally the son should bepaying child support anyway no matter how much the mother hates your son. Think of the welfare of the child.

I believe there is a thing called Grandparents rights. Call an attorney to find out for sure. I am a Grandmother and I am often threatened with this type of problem. If I could not see my grandbaby, I would grieve myself to death. Just be extra sweet to the Mom even though she is probably a bit*h. You can catch more flies with honey.

You never do. I would do some research into retaining grandparent visitation. It's the same procedure as petitioning for custody as a parent.
