DO NOT FEED THE PUPPY COWS MILK!

You can purchase puppy formula at any pet store or I have even gotten it at Walmart. Until the order comes in, this will work. Get a small animal bottle. You can bottle feed the puppy until the puppy is able to eat solid food.

If the puppy is almost 4 weeks old, she should be close to being able to eat solid food. Try mixing some of the formula with soft puppy food. The puppy may "play" in it for a few times, but then she will get the hang of it.

Good luck!

If the puppy is 4 weeks old,it should have teeth, and it will be able to eat softened dry puppy food or canned puppy food, thinned with a little water. As for milk,if you can't find puppy milk replacer(Just Born;Esbilac),you can try giving it a little goat's milk mixed in with the puppy food. Most pups will tolerate this, but if it's four weeks old,it should do OK with just the puppy food. You need to feed it about 4-5 times a day,all it will eat,and then adjust the number of feedings as it grows. As long as it has solid stools and keeps a good weight, then that means that the diet agrees with it and that it's getting enough to eat.A trip to the vet is a good idea, though, for shots and de-worming.Good luck with the little thing.

Oh, glory, poor baby. Are you sure about the age? Have you taken the pup to the vet? If not, you REALLY should. Get advice from the vet not only about feeding but about shots. Pups get their immunity to Parvo, Distemper, etc., through their mother's milk. Once this isn't being ingested, the immunity goes away.

I can't believe your pet supply store doesn't have puppy formula! Shame on them!! The only recipes I could find for a formula substitute were on these two sites here:

http://www.leerburg.com/bottlefeeding.htm
http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_orphan_kittens.html

The pup, if she is 4 weeks, should be ready to start accepting puppy food mixed with the milk-mix recipes on the previous sites. Put the kibble into the milk-mix about 15 minutes before feeding, so the kibble is mushy, or blend the mix together. Start out by gently pressing her chin into the mix so she will first lick her face clean and will then realize the stuff in the flat pan in front of her is GOOD!

Good luck and thanks a ton for taking time and energy with this poor baby.

You can also find puppy formula at feed stores, farm supply stores, and vet offices. If none of those stores are an option for you, you can buy a high-quality puppy food and crush it, then add warm water to make a paste. It works just fine, but it's very messy :)

They have replacement milk (for puppies) at almost any store. Go to Wal-Mart and ask someone that works there if they have any. If not, most places will have puppy formula - that would work just as well.
Please do NOT feed the puppy cows milk as they get a very upset tummy and she will get diarrhea.

Most vet clinics carry some kind of formula. Try calling around. Puppies start to wean somewhere around 4-5 weeks. Try calling a vet and seeing if you could start a water and kibble mash for them. I'm not 100% on weaning age (more like 90%), so make sure to check with a vet first. Good luck.

I work in an animal hospital and we sell milk replacement for puppies, and kittens. I know they sell it in the store too, but I would take it to the vet and check with them before doing anything.
