The bible carries many parts that don't match. Is it "eye for an eye" or "turn the other cheek?"\
Best way to handle, accept that the stories in the bible were told by MEN. The bible was written by MEN, edited by MEN, and it was MEN who chose what books to include, exclude, etc.
So, whatever parts are true or untrue...just believe what you want, and pick apart the bible only to prove a point to those who think its the perfect word of God.

The Ten Commandments clearly states:
#2. You Shall Not Make Graven Images. - Checkout the Catholic church of graven images
#3. Do Not Take God's Name in Vain - And we always take oaths
#5. Honor your Father and Mother. - It is more important than killing
#6. Do Not Kill.
This is just a sample - but somehow nobody wants to talk about it

My Parents didn't want me to be a Christian.
My Parents were against my Entering Ministry.
My Parents tried to stop me from attending Bible College.
I disobeyed my Parents. To do otherwise would of been to disobey God. God's Will over rides Parental Authority.
If your Parents tell you to Sin, and God tells you not to Sin, would you not better obey God ? Yes !

If your parents tell you to do something that you know is wrong, then doing so is not honoring your parents.
The same problem has confronted soldiers when given an unlawful order. Those who wish to honor their contry will recognize an unlawful command, and are duty bound to disregard it. This is what happens in the case of wrongful requests of a parent to their children.
Obeying an immoral command given by a parent is a failure to honor the parent. Proper honor would be to inform the parent of the immoral nature of the command and to refuse to do it.

Read again.
Not "Thou Shalt not Kill", but "Thou Shalt not Commit Murder"
In other words, don't kill members of your nation.
Furthermore, there's the matter of priority....I'm pretty sure that obeying God trumps obeying your parents, even when God is telling you to obey your parents. After all, if you didn't have to obey God, then His telling you to honor and obey your parents would have no value, no force.

The Law did not contain "Obey" your parents; just do not dishonor your father or your mother.. You only obey God's law. If your parents are strong hearted to tell you to kill, Weight the instruction. Are you at war that you have to kill for them? Is your family all in danger that you have to protect it? or are they just pettily angry at someone that they are telling you to kill? With your intelligence, you should see if your parents are out of their minds; for even I would have my mind examined if I hear the voice of God telling me to kill without reason. This days no one should even trust the voice immediately that pops in your ears. I prefer to keep my hands clean than obey a bloodthirsty voice that is playing in my mind. Because I know I am not chosen but I know who is when time comes.

It says to honor your mother and father that your days be prolonged in the land that your Lord your God gives you. So really it says that it would be OK to disobey an order to sin as that would honor them in that you made the right choice.

Honor God above all who may lead you down wrong paths (even parents).
Jesus said all the commandments can be summed in this:
Love God, your heavenly Father above all others, Love your neighbor(people of this world) as yourself.
