Which is the best make of car?

Myself I am also from the Nikon Camp, but both Canon and Nikon would be the best brands in my view at the moment.

Yes Digital SLRs have it all over Digital point and shoot. They have far better quality optics (lenses) and tend to allow the photographer more creative control over the camera.

When you are ready to buy, go to a real camera store and hold each camera in your hand and see what feels right to you. Just don't write off a heavy camera as it can prove to be more stable in your hands for slow shutter speeds.

I'd have to say Nikon. Many pros use them. I prefer 35mm film myself.
