GO ! see everything..it is amazing. You can get knockoff stuff everywhere! Visit China town (if it is not closed down) visit Greenwich village. You MUST visit Times Square (especially at night). When I wen t I went with a fairly low budgeted group and we ate ate a lot of the bagel places and little pizza places. We stayed on budget. there is also a a cafe just off Broadway that has singing servers and they really put on a show. It is not all the expensive either for the food and free entertainment. we loved it so much, we went there twice in one week. Little Italy has some cute shops too. Not to mention REAL good Italian food! There are the museums! Most state there is a certain amount you should pay to get in , but it is only a SUGGESTION - you just put in a donation. PS the Staten Island Ferry is a fun ride, you can ride across and back for free I think.

The Central Park Zoo and the Strawberry Fields Memorial to John Lennon makes the trip to Central Park worthwhile. Get daily Fun Passes and take the Subway for cross-town travel. Coney Island is nice. Go to the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building...there's some good shopping near the ESB. Get a New York-style pizza while you're there. I shopped online and got a good deal on a hotel in Midtown Manhattan. Ground Zero was a disturbing, but worthwhile site to see in 2002, but I'm not sure what, if any, type of public viewing is left. I also planned my trip around a concert at Madison Square Garden; you might want to see if anyone you like is going to be there when you are.

wow start with Manhattan(42nd etc.) and china town is a great place to see, the statue of liberty, ellis island.............etc. its a great place to see(NY)
