I got charged with harassment two weeks ago. My ex.wife gave it to me for phone calls. Her uncle is a sheriff and wanted me to get into trouble for something so harassment it is. I noticed alot of state jobs wants a back ground check and some say if you have a criminal charge need not apply. Do I have one or does it have to be a certain degree or felony?

Harrassment is a criminal offense, but it varies by each state at to the level of the charge and what all occurred concerning the charge. But it sounds like a conflict of interest with the uncle. Check with an attorney.

yes, harrassment is a criminal charge. It can be a felony or a misdemenor. And, for your info., jobs do ask about criminal records, but they usually only ask about felonies. Only government jobs want to know about any and all of your charges, including traffic tickets. If you don't want harrassment charges--don't call your ex-wife!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's civil, not criminal. And just phone calls is pretty tough to prove as harrassment, but these things always depend on the details.

Have you been convicted of it yet? If you have then plan on a career sweeping parking lots. If not then there shouldn't be any problem. Oh, STAY OFF THE PHONE!!

most companies are referring to felonies, harassment isn't a felony. besides you need to be convicted of it, maybe a laywer can help you beat it and you'd have no record.
