My best advice to you is to check with a vet that specializes in exotic animals, in this case, birds. I would not want to ever take a chance in losing my parrot due to my ignorance.
Birds and parrots are also very sensitive to smoke and any type
type of spray not designed with them in mind.
Good luck and be careful.

Calcium carbonate and alfalfa squares are completely harmless. I know you will get conflicting views, but consider that these are natural products and I have found that my birds are tougher than others claim. If they have such delicate body systems, then birds would be dropping dead out of the sky considering all the toxic chemicals in the air these days. Relax and know that if these are toxic, the chinchillas would have bit the dust also. Have a great year.

HI THE CHINCHILLA DUST IS SO FINE IF THE BIRDS BREATH IT IN IT COULD GET INTO THEIR LUNGS JUST LIKE THE DRY WALL DUST FROM REMODELS AND KILL THEM . BE VERY CAREFUL . IF POSSIBLE KEEP THEM AT THE OTHER END OF THE HOUSE . FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR BIRDS .. NOT WORTH TAKING A CHANCE .

uhh hello?! the dust is harrible for birds!! they could die if there prone to it for a period of time!! i sugest you move ether the chinchilla in a nother room or the birds and that should solve your problem
