I need a gift idea for a great girl friend, 24, who is letting me spend the weekend with her at her home in the mountains. I just want a gift to show my appreciation, and the price really doesn't matter.

Take her out to dinner while you're there, or get something appropriate to the trip, like sporting equipment (if she's into that) or something nature-related, like binoculars, a compass, a survival kit, or a nice winter jacket. Or something practical, like chains for the tires, or a snow blower (!). Heck...go all out and pick up a generator...it might come in really handy! Wine is nice, but anyone can get that themselves. You COULD reciprocate, by taking HER on a trip, also.

Try something that she will use that will make her remember the time you spent together. A good hostess gift makes the hostess remember the event.
Try a pretty winter scarf or some warm slippers. A framed picture of the mountain you stayed at would be nice also.

A lot of the previous answers are great suggestions. However, I think the best gift you could give her is helping her around the house while you stay with her. Just to let her know that your not trying to take advantage of her and so there is less work for both of you. Have fun! =)

Wine is an excellent answer, yes! Also consider a nice jar candle if she burns candles. There are so many holiday scents out now that you are bound to find a great scent to make her house smell "warm and homey".

Anytime you attend a house party, it is always a welcome sight to the hostess if you bring a thoughful little gift for the house. It doesn't have to be expensive, but if you are staying overnight, you might want to find something special.

Wine candles and music are all good choices!

You could take her out for dinner at a nice restaurant. I did that for a friend and her roommate when I was their houseguest and they really liked that. Or you could get her a nice gift basket with a candle and bath gel and body lotion, etc. and you could include a bottle of wine if you wanted and maybe a small box of chocolates.
