I had a dog about 17 years ago that had a litter of about 13 puppies. She killed all of the puppies but 3. In her case it was because she was inexperienced and didn't know better. It could also be that the puppy(s) were sick, she wasn't producing enough milk, etc.. It probably wouldn't hurt to have her checked out by a vet to rule out any other medical conditions that may also contribute to this. He/She should also be able to give you tips for next time.

in certainty, there is not any qualified reason canines would kill their offspring. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, it replaced into as quickly as shown that canines certainly kill their own domestic canines through fact of the two starvation and aggressive emotions. oftentimes, if a puppy isn't in good scientific situations at delivery, the mummy would gnaw on it until this is lifeless to place it out of its misery. that's common, and additionally grotesque. hence, why carry out a little people kill their infants, suffocate them, beat them, and all that? each and every each and every now and then, they only have not got the compassion for his or her toddler. do not situation; that's common between all animal sub-species. Fish consume their offspring oftentimes to boot. Its the stability of nature and the circle of existence!

I have heard of this before; although I have never seen it first hand. No one quite knows why they do and there are many opinions as to why, but I do know that a mother will kill/neglect one that is unhealthy. You may want to ask your vet about it and if you breed her again be prepared to tube (bottle) feed them every hour on the hour for a long time.

Yes, some dogs are scared and probably don't know what they are. How could you let your dog kill all four of them? Were you not home? Puppies are a huge responsibility and they need constant supervision. Please let this be a lesson to you and get your dog fixed now.

Dogs are very smart. They sometimes kill their puppies because they know that puppie is weak,& they don't want it to go through all the pain it will have if it lives. It's like a mercy killing.

I am so sorry to hear that. Perhaps she was not ready to be a mother and did not know how to care for them. I have heard that they also will kill a pup if there is something wrong with it.
