My husband was asked to take pictures at a wedding we are attending on New Years Eve. The groom offered to pay him for his services however, because he is not a photographer and is doing it to help out we want to have the pictures developed as a gift. I am sure we will not be able to do all of them with enlargements, etc. but we want to do a bridal album with all of the pictures and pic a few to enlarge and maybe frame them. How do we make mention of this in the wedding card instead of bringing a gift?

Oh, and do you have any other ideas on things we could do with the pictures for them? We want them to be special as it is our gift to them. THanks

What a WONDERFUL and thoughtful Gift for the Newlyweds -- for Photography can run from several hundred to several thousand dollars ...

What I would do is this: Get a frame the size of the invitation -- and frame it (I am sure that the bride will have extra copies available even after the event) -- and place that nicely framed invitation in a box (surrounded by tissue paper and covered with nice wrapping paper).

On top of the package, place the Wedding Card ... and write inside:

In remembrance of this happy and joyous occasion ... (_____ and _____) we are presenting to you a gift of memories ... The Photographs that we will take of the Bride, the Groom, the Ceremony and Reception too.

AFTER you come back from your honeymoon, we will sit down together and you can then choose 5-10 photographs for Enlargement from those that we have taken.

Hope you will enjoy this GIFT on this special day, because it comes from the heart of your friends _____ and _____.

Congratulations!

Be specific - ask the bride and groom to choose their 10, 20 (whatever) favorites for the album, x number for enlargements, framing. Tell them you'll get together post-wedding, honeymoon to review the pics and get their choices. I might even make a special "certificate" to represent the gift. You could do a collage or do theme sets (brides maids, friends, etc)

Can you get a pic of them together NOW before the wedding?

Make a mini album with this pic on the front, title it like "The Wedding Story of _________& ________ about the size of 5 inches by 5 inches, use fancy paper to make blank pages inside, decorate or border it nicely- on the inside second and third page, neatly have printed out
"........to be continued.........our gift to you from the "_________________'s.

Use a fancy string, cord etc. to bind the pages together, as if you were making a cute mini scrapbook. Put it in a fancy box and that is it. Let the bride and groom know that their gift will be ready for them 'after' the honeymoon!

I would just let them know when they try to pay you that the pictures are a gift. ALthough, I'm sure they understand, my husband was a wedding videographer and for his friends he gave them a discount instead of getting them a gift. It was more or less understood, though he might have mentioned it in passing. So you may not need to say anything in the card unless you just want to say "enjoy your pictures!"

Clarify that you are giving them your services as a gift for their wedding BEFORE you write it in a card. Also, discuss with them what pictures you want enlarged, and what your gift entails.
Good wedding present, by the way! Photogs are expensive!

I got three easy steps:

1)Take the pictures
2)Get them upsized at a store
3)Single one picture and put in frame as present
