An HDTV is a TV that can display resolutions of 720p, 1080i or 1080p. This is roughly double the resolution of a standard television, and is often paired with a wider aspect ratio (16:9 vs 4:3). When used with an High Definition signal (whether from cable, satellite, HD-DVD, Blu-Ray DVD, computer, or other HD-capable device) you will see a signal that looks more realistic and clear than on a standard television set.

I can't see much, if any, of a difference. And I work for a major cable company--LOL

But the people that have it, seem to love it.
