Well, the first appointment (putting the braces on) takes a long time because they have to glue each individual bracket on each tooth. It doesn't necessarily hurt when you first get them on, but you feel a lot of pressure. After that, your mouth will feel sore for a couple of days. Good luck!

If the orthodontist hasn't already done so, he or she needs to make a mold out of your teeth (upper and lower jaw). The orthodontist has to put (glue) each of the metal brace onto each of your tooth, and then insert a wire through them.

No, it doesn't hurt when they put the braces on you. It only starts hurting afterwards, maybe a couple of hours later or maybe even the next day. The hurting is actually your teeth's sensation of being tied (bound) up together, that's why your teeth will feel sore upon eating, etc. However, this hurting goes away within a few days when your teeth has accustomed themselves to the binding. Your teeth will get sore every time (appointment) the orthodontist tightens the binding, etc.

Hi. I just got my braces off two months ago, after wearing them for two years. It doesn't hurt when they put them on. However, for the first few days the braces will feel very uncomfortable, followed by a couple weeks of pain while your teeth begin to move.

Just take a couple Motrin before you go for your appointment and then continue to take it every four to six hours after for the next couple of days.

You will have to eat soup for awhile but believe me, this is only temporary! After I awhile, I would go to my appointment for tightening or new wires and I wouldn't be in any pain at all afterward.

Just remember -- it is so very worth every little bit of pain because now I have beautiful teeth after having crooked teeth for so many years.

Good luck!

They don't hurt when they put them on however your mouth will be sore for a few days you should definately chew as much as you can on the theraband that they will give you the only part that might hurt is when they put the metal rings around the back molars but that is all and they d0n't hurt that much. I do recoment that you chew as much as you can on the theraband and also place wax on the braces that you think are hurting you at night or your lips will get stuck to the the brace also your cheeks just be safe and place wax on whatever you think might be a problem, and chew on the theraband i did and i was fine.

When they put them on it doesnt hurt at all from my exprience but like and hour or so you start feeling some pain for like 2 or 3 days, you should eat light foods, put wax on your braces where you feel the pain, brush well, & probably take some tylenol for your pain to ease down a bit.
The only bad thing about braces is the pain after you get them for hours.
GoodLuck with them.

It takes a while to put the braces on, and they do hurt at first. They also make it a little hard to eat at first, so make sure you have soft foods (you have to learn how to chew while they are on). I remember having a lot of headaches when I first got my braces. Just take advil, youll be ok.

No it doesn't hurt getting them put in but it will feel so horrible and weird. Trying to eat with them is so awkward but you will be fine. Its all worth it in the end when you have lovely straight teeth.
