I have a female cat about a 1 1/2 years old. I havent had the chance to spayed her yet. She walks through the house meowing and making all kinds of noises. She is driving me bananas. I dont want anymore kittens. She had one litter already and they all went to loving homes. The only time she is quite is when she is sleeping like now. Does anyone know of anyway to calm her down and control the noise until she is not in heat anymore and I can spayed her???? Please help!!!!

Unfortunetly, no, there really isn't anything you can do to calm her down. She's just doing what her instincts and hormones are telling her to do, and the only way to stop it is to get her spayed, and even then, for a while, she may still have enough hormones in her to continue to act like she's in heat for awhile(usually 4-6 weeks) until her hormone levels drop after she's been spayed. If money is a problem, call the local shelters. Lots of them are now offering low cost spay/neuter clinics now! Good luck, and sorry but there really isn't any way to trick her or stop her from acting on her instincts and hormones.

Your cat can be spayed while she is in heat. The surgery does have a marginally higher risk to the kitty, but every heat cycle she goes through will increase her risk of developing certain cancers.
Also, every unplanned litter of kittens further complicates our pet over-population problem. If money is an issue, some counties may offer spay-neuter assistance programs - check with your county government website or local animal shelter. Good luck.

Hi Kitty, There's really nothing you can do. The screaming from a female cat is something terrible to go threw. I would lock her up in the bathroom, with water, food, and a comfortable bed. If you get to a point that you just cannot take it,i would put her outside, and deal with a litter of kitten. Then i would have her spayed.

Just go get her spayed -- no more meowing.

With every heat she has, her chances of female cancers increase dramatically. She can be spayed while in heat. If your vet won't do it, call someone else. I've seen it done time and time again.

Get her fixed before she scratches the windows out. Once a female goes into heat they just keep going back into it. The thermometer thing did not work for me, and probably doesn't.
The male cat's penis has barbs on it that point backwards and scraps the female when coming out. This is causes ovulation, and as it's irritating to the female. She usually gives out a scream and turns on the male. Get her fixed before she gets out and everyone will sleep a lot easier. See if you can get a rate reduction on the surgery.

There is no way-this is normal behavior. She is 1 1/2 and you haven't had the "chance" to get her spayed? Were you aware that this is a one day procedure-you drop her off in the morning and pick her up in the evening? It can be done while she is in heat-take her to the vet!

I can't believe I am saying this, but my friend told me she had to stick a Q tip in her cats privates to get her to shut up. Who knew that story would some day come in handy.

When I was in that position, I locked the cat in my car at night.
Just get her spayed asap!
