My viewing screen on the camera has just a black screen when i set the camera in the "automatic" mode...the other modes seem to work but the picture quality is blurry.

Hi. Most digital cameras have a "display" button which may help. If turned off, the display will not show anything. Hope this helps.

First read the manual. It looks like you have an option set to turn it off automatically. (Which isn't such a bad thing - saves power and photos are more stable).
See if there is a firmware update for your camera. It can be a bug in software also.

the fee to change the reveal screen stands out as the fee of the digital camera in case you get it carried out by using somebody diverse then polaroid. believe me, purely purchase a clean digital camera it is going to keep a ton of situation.
