Why is it a negative thing that Christians aren't all in agreement? Christianity, as other religions, is full of diverse ideas and people. Even the Bible has different versions of Jesus' life, in the four Gospels. Uniformity is boring.

Well Snyc, you have made a good point. What you say is very true-Christians can't agree on anything about doctrine, or so it seems.
There are 2 main problems:
1. Many Christians (so called) no longer believe the Bible to be inerrant-so they do not use it. Each one intreprets as "they" think fair. They have "no standard".
2. Many Christians are really "not" Christians at all. They just think they are. This is a serious problem, and it compounds the first problem.
This will keep us busy til Jesus comes.

Great question! I just asked if a Catholic is Christian and the answers I got were all over the place! . . . . definitely not . . . . no . . . . yes . . . . maybe.
I asked about Episcopalians and Methodists, Christian Science, and Mormons(LDS) too. Again, answers all over the place.
Obviously, many of the people who call themselves Christians can't even agree on who is one and who isn't. I agree with you; this makes it pretty hard to take their interpretation of anything very seriously, when they can't even agree on who's a Christian and who isn't.
Some of them said "No, Catholics are not Christians", then offered several bible quotes that they seemed to feel told them this! This is the same bible that Catholics, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, Lutherans, and even Eastern Orthodox use. Yet we have a lot of folks who seem to think their bible tells them, "Yes, you're a Christian, but that other guy isn't. He might think he is, but he isn't."
Like I say, hard to take anything these people say very seriously.

I agree that it can be confusing, and the BIble does state that when we show disunity it gives and unclear signal to the unbelivers and can cause the influence of our chrisitan lives on others to waver. But, nevertheles, we should always take our information from the BIble, without the definitive source of the Bible, we can take anything and turn it around to fit our agenda.
here is what the Bible does say about How to become a christian.
The BIble say's sin is transgression of the law (ten Commandments). In other words, have you ever lied? stolen? looked with lust? used Gods name in vain? if you have done these things you have broken four of the Ten Commandments, God on the day of Judgement will then see you as a lying thieving blasphemous adulterer at heart. He sees you as a enemy, Just as we would be an enemy of the state throug our transgression of civivl Law. The Pu nishment of civil Law is Inprisonment, and Gods prison is Hell. The good news is God sent his only sont to suffer and die taking the punishment for your sin, and if you will Repent (turn from sin), and place your faith and trust in jesus, God will then forgive you and grant you the gift of everlasting life. Once you repent and put your trust in the savior, God will save you, he will give you a new heart with new desires to serve him. you then are an official Christian.
God Bless

You are confused. The secular world cannot come to a definition on what defines a christian. I will tell you what the bible says. that if you are not born of Christ (born again) which means repent and make Jesus Lord of your life. You will surely perish.
I tell you, nay: but except you repent you shall all likewise perish. Luke13:3
and it is appointed to men once to de but after this the judgment. Hebrews 9:27
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God Hebrews 10:31

Why take their opinion? You have access to the truth! Read the Bible for your self. If you need your eyes opened I'm sure God and His word will do just that if you keep your heart right as you go about it. God's word is truth! God is not a man when He speaks He speaks truth. God is truth. God doesn't joke around He holds people accountable for their actions and deeds. Your already in His hands why not reach out to Him and let Him help you out. He loves you enough to give you His Holy word. He doesn't expect you to put much faith in man. Put your Faith and your trust in Him. He says His ears are open unto your cries.
Talk to Him you might find a friend that sticks closer than a brother or any body else. He will reprove you but He is merciful and forgiving and He will show you the way. You see He is the way. Give Him a Chance.

Because Christians are just people like you... it is not about them anyway...it is about whether or not YOU will choose to follow God or not. If you were a Christian, would you agree with all the other Christians about things because they are the same faith as you? Come on...think about it. We all are brought up differently, and see things from different perspectives... AND, anytime sin is involved in the picture, which is everyday, it warps things. SO, get real...

The word Christian comes from a follower of Christ.
That's what a Christian is. If they don't follow Christ,
then they are something else (Buddist, Atheist,
Muslim, Jehovah Witness, etc.) Interpretation of any
book can be taken different ways by different people.
That doesn't affect their love of Christ or their eternal
destination.

All true Christians know what it means to be Christian. There are religious cults out there claiming to be Christian, but are not. What do they have to do with us?? It is your choice to believe or not so whether or not you take doctrine seriously or not is all on you.
