I have never heard anyone say my dog was mean as hell and we always knew he would get that kid one day. They are always shocked and swear the dog was treated like one of the family.Pitbulls get the rep because when they attack they dont just bite one time and go away. They go for the kill. This doesnt mean all pitbulls are going to attack. But whenever you hear about a dog killing a child it is most of the times a pitbull.Sorry folks the stats dont lie

NO!!! First of all Pit Bulls are actually "people" dogs. They are extremely loyal and loving. It's the people that are mistreating the breed and turning them into fighters and using them for things other than being a pet. Pits are strong dogs and so ignorant people have used and abused them. Maybe you should go on line and read the truth about Pit Bulls. I have a very friendly and silly acting "red nose" Pit Bull. He is like my child to me, but I see a lot of people that appear to be afraid of him at first just because he is a pit. The media publicizes Pit Bull attacks more than any other breed, but in all actuality other breeds attack as often if not more than Pits do.

No. What is a "pitt" ? A dog "in the square" does not "think" he is protecting his owner. All the dog wants to do is fight until he can go no more and then some. The handlers are in the ring to take the dog to the scratch line or to pick up . True game dogs don`t quit and are`nt human aggressive as your so-called pets and dogs owned by people that have no idea what they`re doing. I don`t think you are from Pluto, more likely Uranus because you are talking out your ****. Get some knowledge before you pretend to know APBT`s.

They don't. Let's face it the question itself is ignorant. Why do some people abuse their dogs and foster aggression? Why do some people neglect their animals?
Most pitt bull's never have a problem. They are sweet and loving. All dogs are capable of attacking. From a chihuaha to a large breed. It's more about training and proper care.
More humans attack and murder in one day than dogs do in years so who should really be banned?

No! I have worked in a animal hospital. We treated 100's of pit bulls, rotties, and dobies. All have a bad rep and despite what the media allows you to see all are wonderful dogs. I personally have a doberman and have friends with pit bulls. Every single one of these dogs are well behaved, incredibly smart, loyal, wonderful family pets. NEVER would any of these dogs think about attacking a human. It is never the dogs fault. It is ALWAYS the owners fault for their sick enjoyment they get in making the dogs behave this way. It is these dogs that give every dog in that breed a bad rep. The media attention gives people the wrong idea. If you really want to find out real answers for yourself do what I did, research the breed first. Before getting my doberman I asked other doberman owners, breeders, and vets about the breed. All of them gave me the same answer that these are a loving and loyal breed. I'm sure that if you would do the same for the pit bull you will also get the same answer.

No, Pit Bulls can be very docile dogs-just watch "The Pet Whisperer" on TV. The behavior of the owner is the over riding influence of the dog. The problem is that many pit bull owners want a "mean" dog and from puppyhood will do everything possible to accomplish that end-including abuse. Often times an adult pit cannot be retrained to trust humans once being hurt and abused.

Personally, I've never heard of any pitbull actually eating any human being. Are you asking about a biting dog? or an attacking dog? I think alot more of those small dogs bite people, but, we just don't hear about it. Bad people raise bad dogs.....period! I don't care what breed it is. I've personally been bitten by a german sheperd (which had bad owners), aand a maltese. I've had labs (2), pitbulls (2), an akita x, rottie x, mastiff x, a manchester terrier, a sheperd x, a springer spaniel x, and none of my dogs have ever bit anybody. I have a lab x and a pitty x right now, and they are the best dogs in the world. So, its all in the people!

THAT'S TOTAL BULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only reaon pitt's are ''mean'' dogs, is because the owners are friggin morons, and they make their dogs mean!!! Pitt bulls were originally bred to hunt large animals, bear, moutain cats, and other animals, that a human couldn't take out by themselves!! They are one of the most patient dogs, they are also great with kids!! My dog is a pit, and I also have a 2 yo! My kid jumps on the dog, pulls his tail, steps on him, hugs his neck real tight, and he plays with him, a little to much lol. But not once has my PITT BULL bit him out of anger, or even growled at him!!
Everyone has the wrong idea about the pitt, because of the dog fights! Have you noticed that in the ring, there are people in there too?! That's because the dogs think they are protecting their owners from the other dog! The pitt bull is one of the most loyal dogs ever bred, and people want to treat them like trash, because they have a different jaw structure, and they are tougher then most breads!
Granted, yes, they are more prone to becoming agressive then any other breed, if you treat them like our family, instead of "just some animal", they will be your best friend, even to the death!!!
In the state of Cali, they are trying to exterminate the pitt bull breed. All because of the @$$es that make them fight, and turn them into mean dogs, and give them a bad name!! The only mean dog, is a dog..........there is no mean dog! Only mean owners!
You can turn a Saint Bernard, or even a Golden Retreiver, and turn them into a mean dog, just as mean as a fighting pitt! It all depends on how you treat your dog! It has nothing to do with the breed, it has EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!! to do with the owner!!!
I recommend getting a pitt bull! So you can see how adorable, smart, and protective they are! They are usually very submissive dogs, so it's easy to let them know who the pack leader is, and where they stand in the "pack". There's nothing wrong with the pitt bull breed!
Can you tell I'm passionate about the pitt??

The owner makes the dog agressive. Any dog can be a "man eater." Pits just get a bad rap because they're a strong breed and people take advantage of that.

Do you realize, that statistically, if this were true over 20% of the US population would be dead? Don't you think you'd notice 1/5th of the population being killed by pit bulls?
Do people even think about these questions?
