For the same reason you don't believe in Leprechauns. There is no evidence they exist either and nobody believes in them. Also let's look at it from another perspective. We can't see X-rays but we know they exist. Why? Because we can do experiments to prove their existance and get reliable conclusive results all the time.
There is no reliable conclusive proof of any of the events in the bible merely hearsay evidence.

The Bible is clear, and it is consistent. One person cannot die for the sins of another. This means that the guilt from the sins committed by one person cannot be wiped out by the punishment given to another person. First, in Exodus 32:30-35, Moses asks God to punish him for the sin of the Golden Calf, committed by the people. God tells Moses that the person who committed the sin is the person who must receive the punishment. Then, in Deuteronomy 24:16, God simply states this as a basic principle, "Every man shall be put to death for his own sins." This concept is repeated in the Prophets, in Ezekiel 18 "The soul that sinneth, it shall die... the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him."

(Or do you work for the US government: if nobody has proved WMD do not exist in Iraq, they must exist, don't they?)

Nobody has ever proven as "false" that I have an invisible pink unicorn living in my basement ....so why won't you believe that he makes magical horse doo for you?

I can tell you a million stories that neither of us can prove to be false, but that doesn't make them true. So what?

No body has ever proved that people descended from monkeys (and nobody ever will), but that doesn't stop millions of people from believing it.

Just because something has never been proven false is no reason to automatically believe in it.
Nobody's ever proven to me that elves don't exist...but it doesn't mean I believe in 'em.
