Most don't.

That said, I don't think you understand the assault an atheist faces, daily, just because he doesn't believe the way the majority does.

Atheism, to most Christians, is synonymous with immorality, hating god, stupidity, lying, cheating, and virtually any negative you can think of.

We tend to be attacked quite viciously by the same people who claim to be followers of Jesus.

This kinda thing takes it toll. It doesn't take long before some strike back, verbally.

Personally, I have no problem with what you or anyone believes, so long as you don't try to force that belief on me, either through aggressive proselytizing, through changing laws to force others to follow your religious beliefs, or assaulting me with insults or unfounded accusations.

I have a very solid sense of honor and ethical framework from which I live my life. The idea that only because I don't follow a creed attributed to a Deity, I am unethical is highly insulting and unjustified.

Just as all Christians don't attack atheists, all atheist don't attack Christians.

Ironically, some of the theists I respect the most tend to be priests, monks, and nuns. These people have often though much more thoroughly about religion than those who find it necessary to attack atheists. They also tend to be most respectful of other's lack of belief.

Most atheists had a theistic upbringing. Most went through a great deal of study and serious introspection to come to the point where they feel they must shed their beliefs. It's highly patronizing and insulting to assume they "just haven't thought about it", "angry with god", or the most laughable "Doing it just so they can sin".

I should ask the same thing to Christians, Muslims, Catholics, Pastafarians, etc.

Dont act like Christians are the only ones who have had "e-injustices" done against them. 99% of the time an Atheist will post something thats "Anti-Christian" to either provoke thought or in retaliation to a "Anti-Atheist" question or answer.

Fyi, The vast majority of Atheists don't "hate Christians so much that they have to come to this site and waste their own time and spread their hate".

I truly wasn't aware that atheists hate Christians. I love everyone, no matter their beliefs. Why should there be hatred just because we disagree. I don't believe in religion. I believe in God, but I also have a philosophy about living our earthly lives. If we choose to serve God, to follow His commandments, to love one another as Jesus states, and then we die, and there is no eternal life - who have we harmed. Didn't we make others' lives richer by being kinder, and by caring about them while we were here? But, if on the other hand, we don't believe in Jesus, and what His death means to our souls, and we still attempt to live good lives and treat people well, what happens when this life ends if there IS eternal life? Then those who believe in God, and truly serve Him, will spend all eternity in joy and worship, free of all worry and pain. But just living a good life, not believing that Jesus is God's son, and that He died for our sins, then eternal life is a life separated from God, and love (for God is Love), then that is an eternity in Hell. I doesn't matter how nice, and good, and giving you are... the Bible says we must believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and that God sent Him to die for our sins. Without that believe, what hope have we? Hell, or wormfood? I'll take Jesus.

I don't hate Christians.

I come here to engage in religious and spiritual debate on a forum designed for the free (well, okay -- monitored by the Y!Astapo) interchange of ideas.

If I make a person look at things another way by what I say, that's great. If I make a person feel more firmly that their belief is correct for them, that's great too. Best of all is if I make someone go look something up and learn more about it -- jackpot!

Also I come here to see what the WSIDR is asking today. :::Sheepishly:::

I don't hate Christians. As a matter of fact, a Christian on this site earlier today said that if someone says that atheists hate Christians, they are guilty of spreading false witness, i.e., breaking one of the 10 commandments.

I am not willing to have Christians contribute to the ongoing reduction in human and intellectual rights.

Such as:
Fighting to restrict the rights of gay people
Fighting to restrict the rights women's choices
Fighting to restrict the teaching of science
Fighting to impose Christian prayer on non-Christians
Fighting to ensconce a special place for Christianity in the law

Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black. I think there is enough guilt for all in this race to create hate.
I think most Atheists hate no one. They might not like or agree with religions or deities, I am sure they don't hate you or me personally. If they do then it is no worse than Christians or Muslims hating them... or me, for that matter.

Put your mind at rest and ease off the persecution complex. I for one don't hate Christians at all. I'm here because they keep asking generalizing and negative questions about atheists. Someone has to set these people straight. It isn't our fault if they see the slightest criticism of their position as "hate". They should try being a bit less thin-skinned.

And so should you.

Atheists pretty much just hate Christians trying to force their ideas to become national laws that infringe upon the rights of others. No other religious group has tried to rewrite American history more than the Christians!

We are not, were not, nor were *EVER* conceived as a Christian nation.

This question did not come from a real Christian. The devil's crowd likes to accuse and judge. Atheists are not stupid. You have to be real with them and reason with them. Instead of alienating them, the Spirit of Christ would be supping with them.

This is not a Christian site this is a religion site. Why do all Christians tend to think when you say religion they mean you personally, and not all the other religions too?
