A straightener is the opposite of a permanent wave and basically has the same type of solution, same type of process. But I suggest you have your hair straightened by a beautician only because it smells, you need adequate ventilation, gloves, cotton, your floor will probably get wet from moving around with a towel, and you need a person who knows when to stop straightening. If you over straighten your hair you might get breakage or then it won't even have a tad bit of a curl at the end, it will just hang there. So is better to spend the money to have it done the best it could be.

I have really curly hair which I hate!!!! I invested in the GHD straightners and they are great, quite pricey though. Expect to pay round £100 for a decent pair. Remember to protect your hair first before the straightners touch it or it will just end up getting really damaged and snapping off!! Take small sections of hair about two inches across and an inch thick, start at the back and work your way round in the small sections, it takes a while but the results are worth it ;)

I use the John Frieda Straight Ahead range: shampoo, conditioner, curl-relaxing creme and finishing serum. I wash and condition my hair, towel dry it and put the curl-relaxer in, then blow-dry it. I then use my straighteners, I start at the hair at the nape of my neck and clip the rest of my hair on top of my head, once the first section of hair is straightened I let down a bit more and continue that way until it's all straightened. After it's straightened I use the finishing serum to tame the fly-aways. It works a treat for my hair.
Hope this helps you hun!

Read your instruction manual (it will probably give you instructions with pictures so its easier than describing it on here) and invest in a good pair....GHD's are fab but if you cant afford them try remington!!

Use a decent smothing balm and buy a straighening shampoo & conditioner. Blow dry your hair straighty before using the straightners!

Try using a straightening serum - can buy in most drug stores i.e boots, superdrug etc

Use good hair straighteners - GHD's are probably the best around. Try their website for special offers.

theres a straightner called a chi
they work very well but alittle expensive around 150
go to salons they sell them there.

and when you're straightnening your hair
divide your hair up into layers
have your bottom layer of hair down and eveyrthing tied up in a high bun and just keep doing that.
