more than any other religion? Could it be that maybe Biblical teaching and truth might have something worthwhile to impart and they can't think of a worthy argument so they just spew hate and call Christians non-thinking, stupid, you fill in the blank. I am continually astonished by this. I know my question will attract all kinds of sarcastic remarks and insults but I am interested to see what other believers think about this. Also, I would very much like some intelligent answers from non-believers.

i'm not talking about non-believers who respectfully disagree...i respectfully disagree with all other religions, but i don't trash people for what they believe and I don't go around trying to convert everyone. I try to live my life as close as possible to how Jesus lived. I have very strong convictions so yes...I believe my religion is true to the exclusion of any other

I think one of the reasons that Christianity is attacked so badly is because you have all these damned fanatics saying you're going to hell if you don't think like I think. Then you have those so called Christians that go and sleep with other men's wives, steal, beat their kids or wives, then go to church and say "Praise God" and talk about all the good stuff they've done or how God's changed them. If God had truely changed them, why would they be doing those things?

Then you have the TV preachers who go on TV and ask for money to do God's work, yet behind everyone else's back they are taking the money and going on Vacation. Or, like one well known on TV, he screws around on his wife...gets caught, then goes on TV whining about it saying "I sinned against you" just to get out of it.

Not to mention you have the one that was faking healings and getting money out of people, usally the poor.

Think about it, how many religions in the world actually push their beliefs down other's throats, even if they didn't ask about the religion? Not many. It's the fanatics that ruin things mostly.

I am an Atheist, though I admittedly asked many questions and gave many answers that angered Christians and had my questions and answers deleted by Christians many times I have never attacked or belittled Christianity. Stating my beliefs are not an attempt to belittle anyone. As far as interacting with the Christian religion more than others that is true. It is because I was raised a Christian and know very little of other religions. I do consider them all to be false though.

No, I don't wonder about it at all. I know exactly why they do it.

It's because Christianity, perhaps more than other religions, holds certain moral teachings that many people -- including many atheists -- just don't want to hear.

They don't want to hear them, because they don't jive with their desired lifestyle. These teachings make them uncomfortable because they are contrary to some of the things they do in their lives.

So, in order to feel better about things they do which are contrary to Christian teachings, they feel the need to defame and discredit Christianity.

That's why they sometimes bring up things like the Crusades and the Inquisitions -- events which were not nearly as bad as they're often painted to be.

They don't really care about the alleged "injustices" of these things -- if they really cared about injustice and people getting slaughtered and all, they'd be railing against Communism. That's because Communism has killed more people than everything else put together.

But they don't, because Communism is officially atheist.

They also don't attack Communism because Communism doesn't teach things that conflict with their personal lifestyles. But Christianity does.

Good Question. I have wondered for so long, why Christians are so belittled all the time? I know people who are Atheists and I don't dog on them. Every human has the right to choose what they want to do. Their inner Spirit tells them . Then why can't all of us who believe different ways , leave others alone ? Live and Let Live. The word we lack is RESPECT. Then you wonder why there is so much belittlement in this world. I have seen more Atheists attack then Christians. Christians do a good job of defense. So it goes back and forth. We need to stop the dis-respect.

probably by using fact Christianity assaults atheists because it somewhat is substantial guideline, "Christians are good and atheists are evil and depraved scumbags deserving of eternal torture". you may think of it may be so obtrusive which you does no longer could ask one in each of those stupid question. Edit: " i'm no longer degrading you or something or no longer believing in God" I get exhilaration from that , however the reality nevertheless stay, your faith DOES try this. The Bible would not have a effective part of say approximately non-believers and it paints them by using fact the worst state a human can achievable be in. what style of a message is that to propagate against your fellow people by using fact they don't have faith as you do? Christianity is amazingly disrespectful and atheists are the least depended on team in usa by using fact of it. If atheists had a creed that taught you have been a evil dreg of humanity, then i'm specific you does no longer welcome it with open palms. It baffles me how no longer one Christian can empathize in this actuality and understand why atheists could have a subject with one in each of those disrespectful and illiberal perception gadget.

I'm an atheist, and I try to keep it civil if the question is civil. I think there is a simple answer to your question. This is the U.S. version of Y!A, and Christianity is the dominant religion in the U.S. That alone could account for some of the anti-Christian sentiment here. The other big part of it is that so many (not all) Christians are just so self-righteous, and unable to see that in themselves.

I could be called atheist... anyway:

For the most part, christianity is the most common religion to have forced upon someone. For example, walking through school, far more christians have tried to convince me to follow their religion than anyone else. Also, it seems many of these christians don't know much about their own faith; things like telling us we'll go to hell for not believing (passing judgement is god's job right?). Basically, since christianity is the predominant religion in America, it gets the most attention, and of course makes the most people uncomfortable.

Edit: Also, they don't realize christians want to help save us. If christians respected atheists right to not believe in their god, and atheists respected christians' rights to believe in him, I think everything would be a lot smoother.

There is no evidence to support your claim (re atheists and Christmas/Christianity). Some do belittle religious beliefs, of course. But not Christianity in particular.

What you've posted is simply a repetition of a myth--propaganda repeated over and over again by some right-wing groups who claim to be Christain, but which in reality don't follow the teachings of Christ (e.g., the "Moral Majority" and the "Christain Coalition").

It is very true that these groups (and associated "Christain"--so called--churches) are being attacked--but not for their Christianity. Most people--including real Christains--are highly critical--because they are claiming to be Christain but neither speak nor act in accordance with Christ's teachings.

There are probably a number of reasons.....anything from denying our beliefs to being fed up with what they see some of us do and say.
We are a diverse group, filled with different thoughts and doctrines. Sometimes, we don't practice what we preach and this is unfortunate.
It is also unfortunate that many people look at the negative few and group all Christians together.
