I would highly recommend these little devices called land mines. They are very effective in curbing bad habits such as these. The Afghani's have been doing this with their dogs and pesky communists/taliban for years. Also, a pooch with no front legs is not capable of digging which definately helps. Good Luck.

One way to prevent digging, is for you to dig down a few inches and lay chicken wire. Cover back over with dirt. The dog will be unable to dig anymore.

as much as u want to stop her she will still dig unless u take her and find her a play date even nextdoor.another way is to find something else a toy or another activity to get her mind off of digging.

Yes, JenBunny...........I agree. Pilot gets to be "free" and has a doggie door to go in and out of the house. If you had a little puppy, I would say to use the crate, but a grown dog.....I agree, should be a time to move about. HOWEVER, your dog should be TRUSTED to leave by then, also. If not, then he actually should be crated for his own safety and well being, and for your comfort. Deter by making sure he has LOTS of toys, and chew toys. You also might consider spraying "bitter lemon" a spray you can get from most pet stores.....over that area. It may deter.....hopefully. Also, remember, if you get to be at home when he "attempts" to start this digging, make sure to correct him with a heaping "WRONG" within 3 seconds of the act. I prefer to use the word wrong, as the word "no" is used much too frequently in the english language. It's a common word, and "wrong" isn't used nearly as often. I found that all of my dogs, past and present, recognized that word, clearly. So, deter, have LOTS of toys to entertain him. Try getting a Kong and put tiny pieces of his dry food inside it for entertainment, pigs ears on hand and given not too often. I give Pilot one every 2 weeks. You can also give him a healthy bone to keep him busy, and that may help to tire him out. Can you walk him before you leave for work? That may also help. He may be digging out of boredom. The idea is to give him items that will entertain him, and lots of safe toys. A walk before you leave may help, also. Good luck to you, and him...both. :o)

What breed is she? Some types of dogs have a bigger instinct to dig more then others. Try traning her not to do it, I'm no expert tranier so I can't really give you advice hopefully someone on here has more exprience with the traning.

Where she digs bury her poop, once she hits her poop she will stop.

There is this no dig stuffyou can put in.

Try burying rocks where she digs. Or giving her an area to dig in , when she digs there praise her. Bury treats there for her to find.

Put her own poop where she digs. Most dogs do not want to dig in their own poop. And you get free fertilizer for your garden. : )
Good luck!

Stay outside her. You will have to catch her in the act and keep telling her NO! everytime you catch her doing it. If she's left outside for many hours at a time with no interaction, she might just be doing it out of boredom.
