My cat has asthma and is on prednisone. Hes been on it for awhile now and has had no problems up until a few days ago. He keeps having little attacks once in awhile. Is there anything I can do for him while hes having an attack to help it stop?

I just recently lost my 8 year old cat to asthma. He was diagnosed with it when he was 2 years old. He did very well on prednisone but occasionally we did use an inhaler with a pediatric spacer (mask like contraption that is held over their face). I really miss him but I am glad he is not suffering anymore. He could not play and run with the other cats because he would get winded and this could bring on an attack. Whenever he got stressed (vet visit, loud noises, new visitors, etc) is when he would suffer an attack. Also over the holidays, I guess from all the activity. Anyway what I would do is scoop him up and put him in my bedroom on the bed. No other cats or people were allowed in and noise was avoided at all cost. I would talk quietly and soothingly in a low, soft voice to him and gently pet him. He always responded well but sometimes it took about 15 minutes or so. I would also trake him to the vet if the visit is not to stressful to make sure that he doesn't need to up his dose or even change his medication. Solumedrol is better than prednisone or seemed to be . Good luck.
