yes, and i don't ever want to know. it just doesn't seem right. my friend wanted to tell me something someone said. i told her i would rather not hear it, because it upsets me, and i ask her to not mention anything like that again. true friends i think wouldn't want to tell you things that would hurt you.

Well, depends on how you define 'hurt'... what you don't know will certainly hurt you - in different ways, that is. For example, if your spouse has an affair behind your back but you don't know YET, your life is actually already been hurt. Either someday you find out for yourself or thru your friends, or he/she may leave you and choose the other person. Then you'll be hurt. Even if someone is doing something behind your back and you never did find out even till the end, it still will sort of affect the way that someone treats you... if you are sensitive enough, you'll somehow feel something is missing, something is not right, but you just can't place it exactly. Your mood will be affected, you'll probably feel puzzled and hurt... unless this person hurting you is such a fantastic actor who can totally compartmentalize his feelings or secrets so well. For me, my belief is that things can't be hidden forever or too long. When there's a fire, there's smoke. And the person needs to create many lies to cover up the initial lies and someday he/she will end up confused by his/her own lies also!

I do not agree with that saying simply because what you don't know will eventually come out and trust me, it will hurt you. If someone knows something and is not telling you because of that saying, they are just causing more damage because the longer you don't know....the worse it is when you finally find out...and you will find out at some point!

Kinda. Depends on the situation. If you never find out, then it prolly wont hurt you. But if you dont know for a long *** time, then find out later, then chances are its going to hurt you worse.

Ask the survivors who were in the twin towers during the 9-11 attacks if they think that line is true.

When it comes to relationships I really don't agree with this saying... because it's really saying, there is something going on that would hurt you if you knew, but I'd rather hide it from you....

I agree because how can something hurt you if you don't even know about it?

It could hurt your reputation or something if someone was spreading a rumor about you that you didn't know about, though...

It is true but would you rather be happy living a lie or miserable but at least being aware of the truth.

i don't necessarily agree. for instance, you may not know you are about to get attacked while you are walking down the street. that still doesn't stop it from happening. so in that instance, what you don't know can still hurt you.
