I am just getting over a nasty cold that gave me lower back pain...along with a myriad of other nasty symptoms. As long as the back pain doesn't get severe or last for more than a week, I wouldn't be worried.

You might be coming down with the flu, (body aches are part of it) , or yes you can get a cold in your back, if you are not running a fever, take a soak in a warm bath, you might want to apply deep heat on your back before bed(don't do this before a hot bath or shower), I made that mistake once, ouch!!. Don't forget your vitamin C, and go to bed early and let your back rest, hope you are better soon.

How old are you?
Have you had a recent strain or injury to that part of your back?
Are you female?
(I just re-read your question: are you SURE it's a cold? Do you have a fever? The shakes?...Still go and see your Doctor!)

The cold weather will always make the weakest parts of your body ache. There are ALOT of factors to add in.
I suggest you see your Doctor, since it seems this is a NEW pain.
Pain is the body's way of telling us there is something WRONG.
Listen to it!

Usually back pain and a cold don't go together. You could have the flu as you ache all over with it.

its probably just coincidence but everyone is affected a little differently by any illness. the flu usually causes aches and pains along with cold symptoms.

Muscles pains are very common. You should only be concerned if you get severe neck and head pains as this could be meningitis. (Neck pains so severe you cannot look up or down)

No, it's probably not even related to your cold unless you are coughing really hard and threw your back out.
