my friends dad is a paramedic he said you have to be 18 to start training to become an emt

You can go to college to become an EMT. Also, some places allow you to volunteer for fire departments and may offer you some training. From there you would take the appropriate tests and become released as an EMT. This varies state to state. You can go to paramedic school from there. It takes about 1 1/2 years. Again, take the tests and pass and you will become a paramedic. You can take a National Registry test. This will allow you to practice as a paramedic in all states. Wherever you plan on getting a job, they may have training you will have to go through. You will have to be released based on what type of experiences they think you should have. Once you are a paramedic, or even EMT you will need to be sure to keep up your certifications.
