Can things like this take a mental toll?

Question

my one friend is really pretty but lately she thinks shes ugly because of her other friends...
they go as far to go up to her face, and say shes retarded or stupid and brag to her about the honors classes theyre in, or the amount of friends they have, they dont do this to anyone else...i dont understand, this happend to my same friend and she got so upset and it was her own friends too..does anyone know what you can do about this? or how i can help her shes getting really upset about this and shes not friends with those cruel people anymore but they still haunt her

they have stalked her on aim/email and sent hateful messages, and i was wondering if this is worse than i thought...

im sorry if it sounds whiney but its just hurtful to see her soo upset

that happend to me, people get jealous because i wasn't like them but they would try to get me upset or make themselfs feel better by telling me im stupid and i cant get a job but they could never have what i get...

Guessing from the way in which this is posted, you sound like you're in high school. If I'm right, and even if she doesn't talk to those friends anymore, maybe you should talk to a principle or disciplinarian about her situation, so that those friends don't start giving some other poor girl the same kind of treatment that your friend had to put up with.

The best thing you can do would be to stick by her, and if you go shopping or whatever and she tries something on, just tell her that she looks really amazing and cute or stuff like that.

You're not whiney, but if this is really happening. She needs a friend. A real friend. Not a boyfriend, not a "so called friend".

The friend needs to do the following:

Compliment her everytime you see her and at the right moment

She needs to affirm herself. Daily, she needs to look in the mirror and say something like "I am beautiful and worthy to be loved."

Try to write a poem or song about her. Describing her from head to toe and special things about who she is personally. It doesn't have to rhyme, it doesn't have to be perfect, just true.

Don't tell her lies. like: "You're cuter than Brittney Spears" (Unless she is)

She won't believe you if you constantly do it, so you need to do it a lot, but only at the right moments.

Also, not that they say a person need 1 compliment for every 10 insults to restore the balance of truth. I think it's much higher.

Anyway, you're a good friend. By the way, let her parents know what happened so they can help.

Sometimes girls can be very mean. They are jealous of your friend and are trying to make her feel badly about herself. It's working.
