How do I get him to stop the nonstop arguing and yelling?

Sounds like my house growing up...

Some parents are not made to be parents. My mother wasn't. She yelled at me everyday. I really know what you mean by literally, everyday! I got great grades and always worked, but to her I was always stupid and lazy. I decided at a VERY young age (8 or 9 maybe) that she sucked at being a mom. I also decided to NEVER be like her. According to my son (who is in high school), I am nothing like her and I think that is one of my best achievements.

The bad news is that you probably won't be able to help your dad and his anger issues. He probably thinks the world is full of idiots and he probably has no idea that he is the idiot. It's too bad, but you can't waste your time trying to change someone who isn't aware of their problem.

My best advice is for you to do great things for yourself. Do good in school for YOU. Join lots of activities and get a job for YOU. Plus, if you are in sports or after-school clubs or at work, then you won't be at home for him to yell at you. AND when you are getting great grades, making friends, and earning money -- it will make him look like a complete a** for yelling at you and trying to make you feel bad.

When you are at home, try to do things to not "wake the giant" and relieve your stress a healthy way like running or reading or listening to music on headphones or writing short stories. Reading, writing, and listening to music were my saving grace when I was in your situation. Years from now when you are my age you can tell people that you overcame having a crappy parent. Don't let it get you down! And please, don't let having a bad parent be an excuse to get yourself in trouble.

Good luck!

"My dad does nothing but yell at me everyday. LITERALLY, EVERY DAY! How do I get him to shut the F*** Up...?
How do I get him to stop the nonstop arguing and yelling?"

You can start by stopping - Meaning stop assuming you have any authority over your father what-so-ever it's called respect.

The first question is how old are you? The first statement is if you live under his roof you don't need to be cursing and be disrespectful. You may just tell him so that he is aware that he is yelling all the time!

whisper to him. seriously. whisper: dad, you hurt my feelings when you yell. he was probably yelled at and abused verbally by an adult and handed it down to you. refuse to accept his gift of yelling. it is not right to yell at anyone. my mom yelled at us and i still catch myself, and i feel horrible. i hope that it didn't get carved into your soul. be a good person and don't yell. i feel he does get you upset and you yell back or else it wouldn't be an argument. would it? and pardon for saying so..but your manners are not what they should be..your question shows a lot of hostility and rage. your dad doesn't like himself for some reason. you need to learn from this and refuse this lifestyle and live to your own expectations and learn to like yourself.

Well i don't envy your position one bit.

But i'd ask him if you could ask him a question:

Like what can i do, to get you to stop yelling at me and to just shut the F*** Up...? then i'd run like hell before he kicked your butt. LMAO I'm serious.

I wouldn't suggest asking him to "Shut up" with or without the expletive. My teen daughter has been whooped for less than that.

Tell him casually that you just finished reading a true crime book about how a frustrated daughter turned psycho and murdered her irritating father.

It takes two to make an argument. Delete one from the equation.

What is he angry about? Are you doing what you are supposed to be doing? Are you making him angry in your actions, if so he is upset with you because of this.
Parents try to teach their children right from wrong, and we do get upset if we see our children go down the wrong road, we blame ourselves, get frustrated and strike out to get their attention.
