All you need to take is enough identification to verify you are who you say you are. If you were not born in the United States, your birth certificate will not hold as much weight in getting your marriage license. Get your naturalization/citizenship papers, your passport, your license, your social, even a bill and tell them that you were born out of the country. The office where you are going to be getting your marriage license should also be able to help you out if you just give them a quick call.

It's not a big deal not to have a birth certificate if you were not born in the states.

Good luck and congrats!

If you became a U.S. citizen, you should have either a certificate of naturalization (if naturalized as an adult) or a certificate of citizenship (if naturalized as a child, through your parents). This is sufficient to get a marriage certificate. If you don't have a certificate of naturalization or certificate of citizenship, you can apply to have it replaced with a new one. You will need the certificate to get a U.S. passport. The US passport can be used as proof of birth as well. Otherwise, contact the nearest Greek consulate office for assistance.

Yes, there is no soon the way the Greek Bureaucracy works. The U.S. Government will give you the time and so will the Orthodox priest.

Peace,
