Anyone have any input on this? Jesus is the one who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind.

For instance, anything that would take their thoughts and worship off of Jesus Christ himself...whether it be beads or statues....If anything in your religion causes to you worship things....it is idol worship.

My in-laws had a small figurine of Mary and would like candles and ask her to ask her son to help them.......that is idol worship. Mary was a VERY blessed woman to be chosen to give birth to Jesus, nothing more. She cannot answer prayers or deliver them to her son......You have to go to him.

First thing's first. Idol worship is the worship of anything man-made, made to represent the Father, and/or His Son, Jesus! Every religion, since the beginning of time has fallen to this deception. The Israelites asked for a king when the Father WAS their King, and so the Father appointed Saul to be thier king. It was only by the wisdom of the Father to give us Jesus, His own Son, to represent Him in the flesh on earth, to put an end to the worshipping of useless man-made gods. The Ark of the Covenant had cherubims on it. The original Temple has statues in, and around it. These things were never worshipped, though, nor were ever seen as representations to be worshipped. After Jesus returned to His Father, it wasn't too long afterward that the church returned to these foolish practices. The Apostles never thought of carrying a cross, or rosary, to represent Jesus. This was Peter's problem in the beginning. Lack of faith! The inability to "believe" without actually looking at something to believe!

If you are referring to Catholics the answer is we do not worship idols. The image of Jesus Christ is not an idol. The honor/action we give an image is the same honor/action we wish to give to the person represented by the image.

Divine revelation in the Bible is progressive because it is the history of God's saving acts to redeem man. Therefore, a doctrine or teaching in the Old Testament is superseeded if there is a comparable teaching in the New Testament. Some examples: divorce, food restrictions, retaliation, etc. Why is this so? The Old Testament is the old covenant, the book of the Jewish people. The New Testament is the new covenant, the book of Christians. Now, since Jesus Christ is the Word of God and THE FULLNESS OF REVELATION what he says should be final.

Jesus Christ redefined the teaching on idolatry. Look it up in Matthew 6,24. It is anything you put ahead of God - money, possessions, lust, even your spouse. I

If we go by your understanding of idolatry Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims will go to hell. The latter because they bow down and prostrate themselves before that black box. If your church has religious art in it you are also headed for gehenna. Include yourself if you kiss/adore the picture of your parents and loved ones.

Final word: Divine revelation continues to this day. That's what Jesus told his disciples before he ascended to heaven. How can we be idolaters? Jesus Christ himself commanded some of our saints to make images of him. So don't worry about us, we won't go to hell. Worry about your own salvation because you do not belong to the church founded by Jesus Christ.

The whole Jesus thing only counts if you are Christian.
If you are not, then nothing in the new testament matters.
If you are Jewish then only the old testament matters.
If you are neither then that book really doesn't apply at all.
In most religions that use idols the idol is not worshiped. It
is only a focal point. It is a representation only. Kind of like a
crucifix.

Some people believe idols are Gods and don't know about Jesus dieing on the cross. Don't forget the many Gods of the Mayan people, and the Egyptions, there are other religions, or faiths that have never ever heard of Jesus, in the world.

Different religions have & will always worship idols, even tho God is clear about this, they still continue. Even the ones that call themselfs Christians.

The Catholics worship Marry and have BIG statues of her in there churches. And there are many others as well.

Just choose a Religion that follows the Bible and you will be safe.

GOD BLESS ALL !

If you mean pagans worshiping idols, your sadly misinformed, we dont "worship idols" as christians love to label us as, We hold statues on altars and other items as a way to "remind and refresh" us of a deities meaning and connection with us/nature.

I cant think of any religion that directly worships idols. They are used as ways to remind us of certain deities.

God especially pronounced to "worship", this is, to bow down and do obeisance to him, utilising a similar be conscious in the Greek Septuagint version that became used for Abraham 'bowing down' to the Canaanite "sons of Heth", that tub-Sheba and the prophet Nathan did to King David. (Hebrews a million:6; Gen 23:7; a million Kings a million:sixteen,23) the american time-honored version had a footnote on that be conscious, 'the unique Greek be conscious denotes an act of worship,' which includes bowing in those circumstances. honestly no longer something is declared approximately worshipping or maybe particularly honoring any human, different than for honoring governmental government (a million Peter 2:13-17) and fogeys (Matt. 15:4-9). The latter says, "as an occasion, God pronounced, ‘Honor your father and your mom’; and, ‘permit him that reviles dad or mum finally end up in dying.’ 5 yet you're saying, ‘Whoever says to his dad or mum: “regardless of I even have via which you'd get earnings from me is a present day committed to God,” 6 he shouldn't honor his father in any respect.’ And so which you have made the be attentive to God invalid because of the fact of YOUR custom. 7 YOU hypocrites, Isaiah aptly prophesied approximately YOU, whilst he pronounced, 8 ‘This human beings honors me with their lips, yet their coronary heart is lots removed from me. 9 it somewhat is in ineffective that they shop worshiping me, because of the fact they instruct instructions of fellows as doctrines.’” Worshipping Mary and different human beings would not come from God's be conscious, the Bible, yet is a 'command of fellows' coming centuries later in the Catholic Church. terrific regards, Michael

Not sure what you mean by idols. If you mean like the cross, crucifix and such then that represents Christ and you arent WORSHIPPING the idol, you are worshipping Christ.

One even altered the 10 Commandments to leave out the order NOT TO.

CULTS do this kind of thing, and other things, to KEEP PEOPLES EYES OFF JESUS!

Saints, HIS mom, beads, bells, medals, vestments, liturgy, GOLD, candles, and all kinds of JAZZ just to impress the crowds and bring in even more MONEY!
