"One liter (33.8 fl. oz.) of alcoholic beverages may be included in your exemption... Federal regulations allow you to bring back more than one liter of alcoholic beverage for personal use, but, as with extra tobacco, you will have to pay duty and Internal Revenue Service tax."

You can take as much as you want, but are subject to paying duty on everything over one litre. As a practical matter, the American duty on wine is so low (not so the other way around, alas!) that US Customs allows at least a case before it will bother to do the paperwork just for a couple of dollars AS LONG AS YOU DECLARE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Hopefully some of the wines you are taking are from the Okanagan!!!)

Hank and BKKBRAD are both correct. My girlfriend goes up a lot and brings back CASES of beer and wine and just pays the duty it's so cheap. Give it a try, just don't try to cheap out and not declare it, it's not worth it.
