I think they are low-life scumbags and not because they're drug-users or sellars.

Someone's already nailed this one.

Only other criminals despise "rats". Because of the risk they pose to them. But these same people who put down police informants, jump at the chance to sign up, when it can work to their benefit.

See, there are many motivations for police informers. It's not always to get off charges. Initially yeah, but there's cash incentive, and then there's the issue of respect. A lot of these criminals don't get any respect, and for someone to show them respect and treat them like a human being, even if motivated by a higher purpose is important.

Informants play a very important role in policing. They are the reason for a lot of bigger crimes being solved. If anyone says we should get rid of all "rats" would they feel the same about the guys who tell on rapists and child pornographers? These guys tell on criminals, just not about drugs. Where's the line?

Sounds like you are afraid someone is going to finger you for drug dealing or some other criminal activity...

It´s ironic that you are probably doing something illegal, but believe the behavior of others *should* be illegal! Talk about hypocrisy!

My advice...stop hating and turn your life around!

Law enforcement makes deals with minor scum to take out higher up scum.

That's the way things work.

Sometimes you have to let little fish get away to get the big fish, but in the end, the little fish will one day get eaten. And when they do,its not pretty.

I think that's about as close to empathy as criminals can have for law enforcement.
