If you paid over half the cost of maintaining your home with your child, then you get the standard deduction for head of household, which is $7,550.

You will get an exemption for yourself and your child, each $3,300.

Total deductions: $14,150.

You will get the Child Tax Credit, $1000 against tax owed.

You will get 20% of child care expenses up to a maximum of $3,000 (so a $600 credit against your tax).

Total credits: Up to $1600.

head of house, 1 dependant, day care expense, medical bills if they are high enough? - these are a few - keep all your receipts throughout the year and visit a professional for an accurate and maximized tax return.
