Parents always know so my advice is not to, but since it is the holidays and depending on your age and what you have planned why don't you just ask him for a sample of his beer and be honest. And just for the future all of us have at one time or another sneaked a beer or some liquior so plan to spend the night at a friends house and don't over do it because parents can smell booze from a mile away and the pasty white face that accompanies praying to the porcelain gods is a dead give away too.

If you took a can of soda from the fridge would you need to ask your dad first? Would you need to worry about him noticing that the can of soda is missing? No.
Regardless of your age, once something is in the family kitchen it is up for grabs by anyone. Feel free to quote me if your dad notices a beer is gone and confronts you about it.

Lets see, if you have five one dollar bills and I take one of them, would you notice? You have your answer if your dad would miss one of his beers or bottles of wine.
If you are not twenty-one you should not be drinking in the first place. If you are over twenty-one get a job and buy your own beer.
Come to think of it, you shouldn't drink even if you are old enough.

I do not know how old you are but the best policy with Parents is to communicate. I prefer my kid to drink one beer at home than elsewhere. You may not like it. I hope that is the case. Let the person drink the alcohol not the other way around.

Depends. Some dads have beer radar that is very fine tuned. Want to see what i mean. Turn the thermostat up one degree. He'll come flying from out of nowhere to see who messed with the thermostat.

he may notice if he has 4 or 5 left. Now if he had a case, maybe he wouldn't miss a couple missing.

My rule of thumb is...If there are more than 6 go for it, he won't notice. Any less and he'll notice if you take one. Goes for anything. Not just beer.

It would amaze you how much your parents notice. If you're not old enough to drink then leave them alone. Then you will be able to look your father in the eye with out any guilt. They are after all not yours to drink in the first place.
