Who knows, what I do know is that alcohol is a great depressor and people use it to make them feel better. All it does is make you more depressed. It may be that you just dwell on it and it takes longer to get depressed after. So, instead of worrying and wondering if it is the alcohol please go to your GP Dr. and ask for a little help with the depression and not drink at all. I think it will make you feel better all around. it is a depressing world at times. We all need a little help. Maybe try not listening to the news or anything that makes you worry. Use relaxation techniques like breathing, yoga or just stretching or soft music. Take time to relax. Also, do not be alone all the time. Make a point of making a good friend or two amd spend time with them doing things you enjoy. This can help with the way you feel. exercise, laughing and friendships that cause you laughter and fun makes the body release endorphins that make you feel better naturally. Also, there is a natural antidepressant called St. Johns Wort. Get at the health food store and try only if you don't have thyroid medication to take. It may be all you need. Good luck.

I noticed drinking does that to me too..only with me it comes a day after, when the hangover goes away...I am left with this feeling of melancholy and extreme inexplicable sadness...I think it's a "let down" feeling that you're experiencing...the buzz from the drinking enabled you to feel happy and forget your problems, and then when the feeling wears off, you are reminded of your problems and the high you got off drinking, because of how good it made you feel, only makes the problems seem worse since they feel so bad compared to being buzzed. It's similar to the ecstasy effect on some people...they feel really happy on the drug, then hit a major low when the effects of the drug wears off. Do you get really drunk, or just buzzed? Sometimes the drunker you get the more depressed you feel afterwards, and I'm not talking about the hangover part. I know this sounds really bad, but life kind of sucks sometimes when you're sober, and being drunk or high makes that feeling go away, only when it wears off it's back again and with a let-down depressed feeling that your problems are not gone.

Please be very careful I would be that you can easily become an alcoholic. If I were you, I would stay away from alcohol altogether. Your parties won't be so much fun, but you won't be crashing like that. Please be very careful.
