My personal recommendation is www.elmosworld.com. My 16-month old adores this site and they have lots of different games to choose from.

As with most things, I think the answer is moderation. My son spends the majority of his day with the TV off--playing on his own and with me. We also read a lot.

But, there is something to be said for what he learns on good TV shows and websites.

I also recommend Baby Einstein videos. I usually put in one 20-minute video every other day. He enjoys them so much and he's being exposed to classical music, fine art, words, colors, shapes, and other babies--all in a fun way.

I know a doctor's group came out last year and said that babies shouldn't watch any TV. But, I think this is akin to saying that children should never eat anything sweet and should never get dirty.

Teach them moderation and self-control as they grow up and they'll become well-adjusted adults who understand how to make good decisions.

Nicjr.com is really nice. I know there are others. Try googling preschooler free. It should show up some free sites that are good for toddlers and preschoolers.

Please no.
Screens take away the reality for a child. Violence isn't real, love isn't real, people aren't real. If you need ideas look to the sites for ideas but transform them into a physical medium for your child. He/she needs all the social interaction that can be had, to develop skills that are extroverted and confidence building.

He needs to eat dirt from a sandbox and fall down and scrape his knee on the blacktop. He needs to stake his claim on a swing and take his turn on a slide. He needs to be outdoors, rain or shine or snow. Play with him face to face, he will get so much more from you than from anything the web has to offer.

Log off and go play. Have a good night.
