I had so much fun at The Melting Pot. It's great food that's a little different. You could go there and then walk around Chicago. There are lots of good resturants like The Cheesecake Factory. It would also be fun to go to one of the musems for the day and then go out to eat. If you like Ice Skating going to the rink in Millenium Park would be fun. Some places take reservations and others don't so check with where you are going.

How about a date back to the first place you met, if possible. You may even be able to have others help you set up the area so that is similar to what it looked like when you met. Other ideas would be a walk on the beach at sunset, with a picnic basket of wine, bread/crackers, and cheese. Make sure you bring a blanket! Anything that you both enjoy together is special...my late husband and I went fishing for our anniversary once, and had a wonderful time. Another time, he surprised me by taking me to a restaurant where he had heard they were having a lobster special that night (and he knew that was my favorite meal!) We also spent several anniversaries at home, with candlelight dinners, steak, salad, and rolls, and then dessert was left to our imagination. By doing something you know he likes and enjoys, you are showing him that you listen to his needs and desires, and nothing is more romantic than that!

You should go on the Odyssey Cruise, docking from Navy Pier. My boyfriend and I went on that for our 1-year anniversary and it was very special! The food and band are excellent, and the waiters do everything to make your night special; for example, if you leave your camera on the table, they'll take pictures while you're dancing!

If you want to be landlubbers, I would also suggest Signature Room at the John Hancock for the marvelous view or Geja's Cafe if you're looking into some fondue.

Hope this helps!

I suggest going to a place you two first went to when you first met. Like maybe go to the place you had your first date, if you remember the food or what you wore that would be cool. I know that for a lot of us reliving a good memory is nice and you could even add something to it. For example my boyfriend took me to Red Lobster for Christmas which is where we went on our first date. We talked about where we sat, what we wore, it was really neat. And it doesn't have to be the first date, it could just be a favorite place. I know another romantic thing that an exboyfriend did was he packed a picnic and we ate it under a beatiful tree by a creek.

I think a super fun place is the Melting Pot-- it's a rarer national chain, I'm not sure if it exists in Chicago. They have a dark and romantic atmosphere and serve fondue.

My very favorite bar in Chicago area is Hala Kahiki in River Grove.

there is a lighthouse on the lake. just take LSD til it morphs into sheridan, continue as if you are heading to evanston and you can't miss it. take a walk along the lake, steal a kiss or two and then head for a nice dinner and drinks at the place you two think of as "your place". don;t have a place? no time like the present! congrats!
