People oppose the war primarily over ignorance. They forget that Saddam violated 17 UN resolutions over a ten year period. They also forget that at the end of the first Gulf War that Saddam "DID" have WMD's. The UN admited he had them. 9 World Intelligence agencies admitted he had them. He used them on both Iran and his own people. Even Bill Clinton said Saddam had them. So where did they go? Considering that most of the WMD's could be stored and smuggled in a briefcase and that he had months to get rid of them, it doesnt take an Einstein to see that he shipped them away.

The only reason the UN didnt support the second Gulf War is because they were committing the Oil For Food scandal in which they stole millions from the Iraqi people.

Saddam attacked Kuwait, and we jumped overseas to help Kuwait with the blessing of the UN and most of the world. We solved that problem. The second time that we invaded Iraq (the current war), we had no grounds to do so. We lost world legitimacy. We didn't have the backing from the UN or many independent countries. The countries that did support us backed out as they realized how big of a mistake it actually was.

i like the Arab concepts We(Iraq) choose for this (Shatt Al Arab , greater oil expenditures ,Kuwait or regardless of) .They as a result enter into negotiations wherein they simply state -- we are greater and better so supply us what we call for -- or we are able to invade you. So Iraq invades Kuwait, kidnaps, tortures and rapes Kuwaiti electorate, usually loots the region, seizes its oil fields and then threatens Saudi Arabia -- and you ask what has that to do with the West or all and sundry else ? Do you ever ask your self why Arabs/Islam get one in each and every of those undesirable press international

Bush senior was (conveniently) low in the polls when that "crusade" was undertaken. We pretty much let Saddam (our bastard) know that he could take Kuwait without repercussions. Then we moved in to kick butt and up Bush's ratings. Same thing with Panama - Noriega (our bastard, low Bush ratings).
