Have you developed this in the last few months? Do you sleep more than usual, eat more or less, are tired most of the time, get irritable and cry alot more than usual? You could have seasonal affective disorder. Spending more time outside in the sunlight usually improves this dramatically. It could be a biological depression in which medication is probably needed. It could be a situational depression caused by stressors in your life. Going to college, having trouble with your parents, not having many friends, not having a gf. These things can all add up and cause you to be depressed. In any event you should see your doctor and explain your symptoms and get a complete exam. Physical conditions can cause these symptoms and they need to be ruled out or treated. If everything's okay physically then your doctor can help you find the best way to treat your depression. Psychotherapy and/or medication can be very helpful. Depression is very treatable so hang in there and don't give up hope.

you could talk to your mother about how you feel. or alternatively you could start some new clubs. college has so many oppertunities for example the fact that there is noone there who knows you and who can judge you so its the perfect time to start something new. you cuold start playing an instrument to spend some of your time. take up drama, painting. anything it doesnt even matter becuase whatever you do youll be exposed to new people some of which youll like.
alternatively see if you could get a pen pal from a different country, you should be able to do this through your college's language dept but im not sure. or obviously via yahoo answers.
good luck.
