Don't get ProActive. It works at first, but after a while, it really REALLY dries up your skin like CRAZY.
I have the same problem. Go to the dermatologist. They are the only ones who really know what to get you. I went to a dermatologist and they got me RetinA Micro and another cream. It works. I also only use my pimple medicine when I HAVE the pimples. That's pretty much the way it is with EVERY pimple medicine because of course, there are side effects... just like any other medicine. So you don't want to use it constantly when you don't even have the pimples.
Pimples can happen when your period is about to come. That happens to me all the time. Stress is also a cause of my acne. That's what hormones do to ya. It's alright.
Just go to the dermatologist. They know best. : }

Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

I have an acne cure that has won me the best answer three times. Each time, the person said it worked great. I'll copy and paste it below.
Use a hot compress on it, and then use cool water to close the pores. Do the process over and over again, about five or six times. Use soap to wash the area, and then treat it with an alcohol soaked cotton ball. It should be gone within five to six hours.

i have had the same problem for the past few months. im 22 and have always had lil breakouts here and there like maybe once a month, but the past few months ive been breaking out like crazy! i think my problem has to do with hormones (i've had hormone problems for years) and have been taking birth control pills for years to regulate my period, but bcp can often make you breakout. i guess it all caught up to me. i would suggest going to see an herbalist because you might have the same problem, even if you've never been to one before, because they can really give you some good herbal treatments that won't mess you up even more. some of these over-the-counter and prescription meds can have so many side effects. i saw one earlier in the week and they gave me a bunch of herbs to help clean me out from inside and out and to fix my system, so hopefully it'll work. im sure it'll take a few weeks to show results. but the weird thing is that as soon as the herbalist saw my face, she asked me if i had stomach problems because i guess the way the acne was on my face was consistent with someone wiht stomach problems. i DO have really bad stomach problems and have since i was little, so i was quite surprised. right now im using tea tree oil as a face wash, and ive heard that tea tree oil mixed with salicylic acid is the best face wash. you can't buy salicylic acid in the store, but it comes in many different face washes and aspirin is actually made of whatever salicyclic acid is. i havent tried adding aspirin to my tea tree oil, but im about to do an aspirin mask in a few mins to see how that works. drinking green tea and water will help flush out any toxins that might be causing the acne. the herbalist gave me lavendar oil to put on the pimples as soon as they start forming cause its supposed to dry them out, and she also gave me vitamin e oil to put on my face at night to get rid of any scars. she also gave me a bunch of herb meds.
ive also heard that toothpaste (without mint as an ingredient) works well to lessen inflammation and dry out pimples. i used that the other day and saw the inflammation go down after about 15-20 mins. dont leave it on more than that cause it burns!
i used proactiv for a couple of years even though i never really had bad skin. i stopped using it for a while, but then started it again when i started to breakout really bad a few months ago. it didn't help at all and seemed to make it even worse, and aside from that the benzyl peroxide dried out my skin so much that it would sting and burn.

No i have never heard about that with proactive. I started to break out just like you and i got proactive and it worked you should try it too. and if you dont like it you can send it back, but I'm pretty sure it will help you.

If they are really large pimples consider seeing the doc about antibiotic therapy to help with the bacteria that is causing them. I would recommend an acne product that contains tea tree oil until you can be seen by your doc.
