Because thats just the type of ppl they are. Loved ones will rarely manipulate one another out of respect and love.

I think that depends. Do you draw a distinction between manipulating someone for personal gain... versus doing it for their own good?
I'll be honest, I've used persuasion and intimidation as motivators to bring on positive changes in people that I've cared about.
I threatened to break up with a girlfriend if she didn't stop drinking so much. In truth, I had no intention of breaking up with her... especially since that would have only compounded her problem... but she didn't know that. And she was afraid enough of losing me, that she started being more responsible about her drinking.
Yes, I manipulated her. Was this wrong of me? Or do the ends justify the means?

Some people like to manipulate others because that is the way they were raised, and think that they are out smarting the person they are manipulating. When in actuality they are showing their lack of integrity.

some people have a hard time trusting other people, and sometimes thats b/c of sumthin' that has happened to them earlier in their lives...so they find other ways to do things other than telling the truth
