On Christmas day our family went to Church. My brother in law who is a muslim came with us, he followed us and accepted the communion when it was offered.

Was God doubly offended because he drank alcohol as a muslim as well as partaking in the eurcharist with out catholic confirmation.

According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church: "... and no one may take part in it unless he believes that what we teach is true, has received baptism for the forgiveness of sings and new birth, and lives in keeping with what Christ taught." (1355 The Celebration of the Christian Mystery, pg. 342 paperback)

AND: "Anyone who desires to receive Christ in Eucharistic communion must be in the state of grace. Anyone aware of having sinned mortally must not recieve communion without having received absolution in the sacrament of penance." (1415 same Chap. Pg. 356)

So you see, the Magisterium would lose their minds. I say "who cares?" but I don't get to make the rules... I SAY that his intent is what's most important between him and Allah as he believes... again I don't get to make the rules, and I don't subscribe to the Catholic Church's rules either. "GOD" who I personally don't believe in, if he was all the "good" in religions claim he is I couldn't have ever imagined such a god as being "ANGRY" about something like that, although, as a Muslim he probably shouldn't have done the alcohol... again, that's obviously between him and Allah.

The catholic church views incorrectly engaging in the sacraments as a sin of sacrilage. HOWEVER, one cannot engage in sin if one is unaware that such an action is wrong. Therefore, your brother in law should not have taken communion, but is not morally accountable for having done so if he was unaware of the nature of the sacrament involved.

If he hasn't confessed with his mouth and believed in his heart that jesus is lord and god raised his from the dead then he isn't saved. If anyone partakes of communion unworthily they are guilty of the body of the blood and body of christ.loook it up in god's word. I'm busy so I couldn't find the scriptures for you but you could find it.Look up taking communion

Catholic perspective - He should not have done it. only catholics should

Protestant stance - Muslim is person who submits to God. It is O.K.

Muslim drinking alcohol - not all who say they follow a religion adheres to every letter.

Your brother-in-law should not have received the Eucharist but it sounds like his mistake was one of ignorance.

The bigger issue is with you and your family for not explaining to him what to do during the Mass.

I suggest you use this as a learning experience for everyone involved.

With love in Christ.

Your brother-in-law should have received the Eucharist but it sounds like the pope's mistake was one of ignorance. He has no respect for Muslims.

The bigger issue is with you and your family explaining to him what to do during the Mass. As for me, I sit on the back row with my boyfriend.

This is a learning experience for me; I have always been so stupid about Catholic issues.

With love in Christ.

Andrew, I am surprised at you. Why would want to disgrace your brother in law in an open forum?..
A true Christian would talk to him privately and forgive him. So you see, I know you are an atheist who hates both Muslims and Christians. Shame on you!

that is sacrilegious, because your muslim friend is not a born-again christian, he doesn't even believe Jesus died for our sins!! It would have been better that your muslim friend come to church , but not take communion. No one should take communion unless they have confessed their sins first.

I don't think it would offend God. Remember He's always merciful; we're the one having a hard time forgiving ourselves and others.
