Yep, perfectly normal. Sounds like they need trimming. You can get the vet to show you how at the next visit (or go to a groomers, they can teach you to). Taking him in for regular pedicures will get expensive, cat clippers are cheap at the pet store. ;) I also bribe my cats to submit to the trimming with treats.

Another reason he could be biting is to remove old claw sheaths- cat's claws are a little like snakes- every so often the outer "skin" is shed off - and kitty will remove these on his own. My cats get pedicures every 3-4 wks, they still bite to get the sheaths off.

I think your cat is fine if itdoesn't eat them. but if it does you should find a way to stop it from doing that* but if you do need to cut them you can go to any pet store and ask for cat nail clippers and you should probably have someone help you cut them when you do because cats don't like it when you do.

*if you need to stop the cat from eating the nails if you catch it eating it you can use a spray bottle and spray and it will eventually figure that it is getting in trouble for eating the nails and the only reason why i am concerned about a cat eating nails is becasue i got my cats from a shelter and they told us that there can be certain bacterias on a cats nails that can cause sicknesses.

All of my cats have chewed on their nails. From what I undergo in suggestions, they're removing an outer nail layer. however, I even have in no way seen any of them chew them down so a great way wherein they chop up the fast, or reason their nail to bleed. this would actual be a effect of an stronger situation. In canines, itching their paws via licking or chewing on them may be a demonstration that they are allergic to lots of the climate interior the foodstuff they're ingesting. i'm uncertain if the comparable is authentic in cats however. happy to work out which you already made the vet appointment. with a bit of luck that's an uncomplicated subject with an uncomplicated answer.

A cats nails are always growing like yours. They need to be shedded especially if the cat is an indoor cat. Outdoor cats usualy shed theirs off walking across the ground, over rocks, dirt etc. Indoor cats will try and peel theirs off if they making them uncomfy. Make sure kitty has a scratch post it will help.

This is normal. If you do not know how to clip their nails then go to the vet and have them show you.

take it to the vet and they will show you how and what to use when cutting the nails, cost about 8 bucks, yes they need trimmed, so they don't curl under and get into the pad, which is very painful

Mine do that too :) I think it's just part of their cleaning - they get fur stuck in there, or whatever it is they like to scratch.

But yes you should clip your cat's claws.

I was afraid to do it at first, but I have never made them bleed and now it's super quick and easy.
