The reason why they have not faught is because UFC and Pride could not agree which company would host the event and would it be held in the US or Japan. Also how they would split the revenue and how the fighters would be paid. Further more if Silva was to win would he take the title from Liddel or would it be a non title fight. Think about it, if UFC hosted the event they would have have first choice of venue and sponsers etc.... Pride would have to wait for their cut of the profits and their sponsers would be pissed off that they couldn't be mentioned. Same for if Pride hosted it...

Chuck didn't back out of the fight, neither did Silva. Pride and UFC couldn't come to terms over the profit sharing/rules for the event. In 2003, Chuck went over to pride in the Middleweight Grand Prix specifically to fight Silva, but got beat by Rampage Jackson in the Semi-finals. Now that Rampage has joined the UFC along with CroCop, Chuck will get a shot at two of Pride's best. Supposedly CroCop wants to go for the Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight titles. At least he'll get a chance to fight Rampage again! Liddell and Silva are both champs of their respective leagues, but Shogun Rua is the real best light heavyweight in the fight game.

Chuck Liddell didn't back out of the fight. The fight was just not possible due to the two fighters being in seperate organizations.

"he got his *** handed to him by rampage and the lastime they fought the refs had to stop the fight"

That was 3 years ago and since then Liddell has improved ALOT.

He did'nt back out of the fight, he's the one that asked Dana White to get him the fight. It's just not possible at this time because of contracts and money plus theres just a whole bunch of other variables you have to consider, like cage or ring, vegas or japan, pride rules or ufc rules, its all a bunch of BS and it will be like this until MMA gets really huge and the fans demand these fights, then they will have to come up with an open organization tournament that contestants from all orgs all over the world can enter. That would be awesome. These guys don't back out of fights, their like animals, they don't care about who they fight, they just want to scrap and get paid. Theres a Iceman interview on Sherdog.com and Liddell makes fun of Silva beause he just got KO'ed by CroCop.

Why would he want he got his *** handed to him by rampage and the lastime they fought the refs had to stop the fight...so basically he cant beat rampage...and the silva beat crap out of rampage twice! and knocked him out last time...so why would he want to lose his belt and all that money and take the worst beating of his life? In on a side note...rampage signed with liddell so chucks days our number as it is...nothing against liddell he looks good against b level talent...but when he fights top a level fighters hes done for. I hope and think he will beat tito another overrated fighter but the winner of the fight is actually a loser once they have to face rampage

He didn't back out, there is just the division between the 2 orginizations. There is a lot of speculation that there was only the mention of pride fighters signing to UFC due to the financial difficulties Pride were having and the up coming show at the time in Vegas

I dont think he backed out i thought it was more of a pride vs ufc thing. Liddell will never back down from a fight especially one that will prove him the best there is.
