It is common in the elderly due to medications, lack of oral hygiene and some illnesses such as diabetes. Bad breath does not just come from the mouth. It can originate in the stomach too.

bad breath can come from many different reasons such as cavities or rotting teeth or plaque that clings to teeth. It can also come from unclean dentures or fixed bridgework that has rotting teeth under it. all of these scenarios are bad for the health because you are swallowing the bacteria that comes from these problems. Clean the teeth well with baking soda, salt and peroxide solution three times a day. If the problem is dentures or cavities you must see a dentist too.
