Most people have a preference. I'd like to hear from people who use both.

In California, the American Cheese sold is normally yellow, but I have had white American Cheese in New York and it tasted very good. If you put the cheese on a sandwich, you most likely wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Happy New Year!

I don't think there is a difference in taste. I buy both often. I do however prefer the white American cheese because it seems smoother/creamier to me. It could be in my head but I like it better. Have a wonderful day!

I am one of those people wh use both, white cheese is mostly used for melting on hotdogs and it is used to sort of creme things up a little. Yellow cheese tastes amazing on hmburgers for m and is used to add an extra sweat but still cheesy taste. i hope this helps... call me crazy but i prefer white better

I think white American tastes more like provelone. Yellow American seems to have a sharper taste.

You have to taste for yourself, but there should be no difference in taste.. just as long as they're both of the same variety. Color shouldn't matter. Also, we all have different taste buds, so what might be lousy to one person, may be yummy to you. lol

No, no difference, but I'm weird and I actually prefer the white version.

No. Why don't you ask your deli guy to taste each before you buy.
