Are the 3in1 systems like Bose a good System to have?

I recently purchased the LG LHY-518 Home Theater System. It is a complete home theater in a box and includes all the speaker wire you will need. It boasts only 1 receiver with an on-board DVD Plyer and VCR with a component video connection. I have been working with electronics for many years and for the price you will find it at most electronics stores (approx. 250-300 USD) , if this unit is available, it can't be beat. One key feature that hooked me to this unit was the Optical Audio Input that most other units don't offer until you start paying around 600 USD. It also has a progressive scan feature which is an added upgrade to improve your cable picture.

Now for the sound, it offers 1,200 watts peak power from a 5.1 speaker configuration which features a center speaker which can be placed atop any TV (including plasmas and LCDs). The two front speakers are the tall, theater variety and the rear speakers are your standard bookshelf speakers. The system offers several sound modes to choose from.

As you can tell, I love mine!!

I included a link to LG's website, although their MSRP isn't exactly what you will pay.

Too expensive is a relative term. I just put in an entire home theater system in my home and spent a pretty good amount (more than I wanted to let's just say). I can tell you that the Sony Pearl front projection projector is awesome as it handles 1080p no problem and offers a fantastic picture up to 120". I also bought some Paradigm speakers (studio 60's) and love them, along with a Pioneer receiver that also plays my iPod. Everything is great but the total setup set me back some hefty coin. If you're not an audiophile or a videophile I would just make sure to focus on what sounds good and looks good to you regardless of how inexpensive or expensive it is. Also keep in mind the size of the room you are putting it in, the amount of ambient light, how far away you plan on sitting, and what your primarily going to be watching/doing on it (ie. DVD movies, sports, TV, games).

With all my electronic experience (career), people always overlook the 'cheap' units because they want style, or fear poor quality. Lets focus on this. This is the #1 selling unit, with the highest cusomer satisfaction rating: >>>>> U will be surprised!!!!!!

Its made by DURABRAND, the "cheap" Wal-Mart brand that everyone who reads this paragraph will think I'm nuts for saying this. In reality, it keeps up with competing brands, particularly bose. So, think about it.. It sounds crazy, but you shouldn't always overlook the 'little-guy' in the business.

Bose is overrated...
We have a Yamaha. Make sure that you get a unit that has a separate amp for each channel.
