Wouldnt religious people just rationalize the finding?

"Even though this hominid is looks like a human precursor and tests as a different species from human and ape, it is clear to me that this creature is merely a mutated human made by Dr Frakentein"

It would be called a hoax, then say it is human, then deny the genetic inconsistancies saying the sequencing method was faulty, then claim the date was wrong and this was the tribe Cain's wife came from, call it a hoax again, say it proves Creationism, then claim that the DNA inconsistencies were a result of sample degradation, then call it scientifically inconclusive.

Of course, we're getting close.

Neanderthals were not ancestors of modern humans: they were contemporary cousins for tens of thousands of years. No one knows if Homo ergaster were direct ancestors of modern humans or some other branch of the hominid family tree.

In answer to your question, I doubt that such a scenario would change some people's minds. Many of the detractors of evolution have little interest in scientific evidence.

No, it wouldn't - I realize that there are "christians" who speak out against evolution, and the basis of their argument is that this world was created by God about 6000 years ago, and started with Adam and Eve. Obviously, anyone with half a brain knows from fossils, etc. that this earth is billions upon billions of years old. Quess what: those 'christians" are biblically illiterate - they wouldn't know Gods Word if it jumped up and bit them on the butt. Gods Word does NOT say this earth is 6000 yrs old, in fact, it states that it is in fact billions of years old, and even that there was an earth age before this one - yep, before Adam and Eve. Look at Genesis 1:1 - "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." (period). Now, did that say when? No, just "in the beginning". Theres an entire age within that, and the Word covers it quite well, esspecially in second Peter where he discusses the three earth ages - the one that was, the one that is now, and the one that is to come. There is absolutely no controversy between true science and the true Word of God.
I hope that any Christian who reads this will please stop saying the world is 6000 years old - it makes all of us look like idiots.

it wouldn't change my mind! i already know evolution is true, there is just no other logical way.

physical DNA evidence is enough to prove someone guilty enough for death row, but when it comes to Homo Erectus and Homo Ergastor etc. it is dismissed by christians as being false because "we didn't come from monkeys". whatever!

but god saying "poof theres a man" "poof theres a woman" "poof poof poof ding all done" makes a whole lot more sense.. right!

Nope. Trading dogma for fact is not a strong trait amongst the faithful.

Give them a sequence of 1, 2, 4, 5 and they'll reject it all because you don't have 3. Find 3, and they'll reject it all because you don't have 2.5.

They're hopeless. Just keep them out of politics and public education.

Dear Tool that thinks He is Sharp,

The Bible is not an archeology book. Science and religion have much to discover about each other.

God himself could make a public address on the topic, and the religious would still think evolution was false.
