Which country in Europe will give me the best chance to get immigration rights so that I can become a European citizen and eventually move to Denmark or Austria.

Is there a program where I can trade citizenship with someone who wants to become American and I become European?

Shaggy, yes I understand that. I also understand that when you are the citizen of any EU member state, you are considered a European citizen and can live in any EU state.

But I'm wondering which country will give me the best chance to gain immigration rights, so I can go from there...

I visited the Greek Embassy in Washington DC one time about not being a citizen there but to stay longer than the 3 months always allowed....I was told you can get an extension, and then a 5 year extension on a visa as long as you can prove you have the means of support...He asked me why they would want to send someone out of Greece that wanted to spend money there?
I also know that it is very hard to gain citizenship in Holland,
best bet is to decide on a country then check online about immigration status requirements

To facilitate the transition from US to Europe, first work in UK through highly skilled personnel permit or work permit (other European countries will almost likely to require you to speak their language!), 5 years later get permanent residency (and learn Danish or German), then another year to become British (naturalisation), then you will get to move around Europe with no problems!

All in all, you need minimum 6 years to get there all by yourself... You will give up the US weather (if it's nice like Florida/California!), cheaper living standard and Thanksgiving to pay over the top to live in Britain, Denmark or Austria.
