I want to get my lower lip pierced on the right side. I have spoken to several people, including piercers and people with the piercing. Ultimatley I want to have a ring, should i get pierced with a tud and change it later or get pierced with a ring?
How long and how bad will the swelling last? I am a college student, and a regular smoker, what problems will that cause? When wil I be able to do things such as make-out, and eat spicy foods? What types of mouthwash are recommended?
If anyone has some specific stories about their piercings feel free to share!!
I would love any feedback from experienced piercers
Thanks

Its your choice. If you get a ring the hole will grow to the ring with a curve. Your choice. Ask the peircer on their opinion. The stud wil grow straight. It all depends on your body and how it will react to the peircing, so it might not even swell or it might swell for 10 days. Smoking is not very good for your peircing so rinse after every smoke. You definatily will be able to make out and eat spicy food. Listerine is good... but really any mouth wash. I've hear of people rinsing with half water half mouth wash.
Good Luck!

OK a ring will be totally fine most piercing places will only let you start out with certain types of jewelry anyway so you shouldn't worry. Second the swelling depends on your body mine lasted for about 3 days (i have my lip). Smoking is probably not the best idea but ask your piercer to be sure. For spicy foods you should probably wait a couple of days just because it might sting, and making out or oral sex you should wait 2 weeks because you need to keep the piercing clean. As for mouth wash you will need to use sea salt and distilled water (about 8oz. of water per 1/4 a teaspoon sea salt) and anti-bacterial or anti-microbial soap.

yes, you can get it pierced with a ring. And you shouldn't smoke before getting your piercing. It thins your blood and makes you bleed more. You should also eat something before you get pierced so you don't pass out. I"m sure you can eat spicy food and make-out. I'm sure any type of mouth wash will work, but i'm not 100% sure.

ur best bet is to get it done with a ring. the piercer accounts for swelling when putting in the origonal stud/ ring by putting in a slightly large one. best advice is to only smoke when desperate for the first week or so, and wash out ur mouth with mouthwash after u smoke, drink or eat until it is healed

if you're searching for compliments, thats what myspace is for. if you're attempting to seem edgy because you have become a lip ring, thats what myspace is for. why are you asking strangers the position you need to get your piercing at? and posting your image, in case your lip. pierce it the position you want.

well never use listerine! dont use any mouth wash with alcohol in it. any type of alcohol is bad for ANY piercing. it will only irritate you piercing and cause it to take longer to heal. thats all i konw for the after care. I do not have my lip pierced so i dont know any more of your answers, sorry =(

but never use rubbing alcohol(any alcohol), hyrdrogen peroxide or neosporin (ointments) on your piercings.. they are very harmful

make sure you go to a place that is licensed and looks like its clean. make sure when you get there you see that the person who is going to pierce you lip cleans all his/her utencils with rubbing alcohol before she uses them on you otherwise you'll get an infection. and make sure the place is clean!
